RDG 6322 Reading Practicum
This course provides the opportunity for successfully completing the required 160-hour practicum for the Reading Specialist certification. The course is designed to support students in their efforts to complete the Reading Specialist certification requirements in Texas. Students will work with a campus Reading Specialist and a university faculty to complete the practicum requirements by participating in authentic Reading Specialist roles and responsibilities. To successfully complete the reading practicum students must demonstrate proficiency in each of the Reading Specialist standards. Students will receive a “PR” until all practicum requirements are met. Once all 160 hours of practicum requirements are completed, students receive a “P”. Students will have 3 full semesters to successfully complete practicum requirements. If requirements are not met at the end of 3 semesters, students will receive an “F” and must retake the practicum course.
